What is inbound?

Inbound marketing aim is to attract customers or leads to the company by posting different content on the internet. Examples of inbound marketing content are like blog posting, photos and graphical content, videos, podcasting, live or recorded presentations, whitepapers, e-newsletters, webinar, search engine optimisation, social media marketing and more.

How to generate more prospects through internet and online marketing

1. Sending offers like discounts, vouchers and free trial to customers

This can be best done by using the email marketing method. There are few best practices that you could follow in order to create an effective email marketing. Use more incentive in email subject like “50% Discounts if you spend more than RM 100” and “Stand a chance to win an iPad” are some subject that will attract audience to read your email. Keep your main message at the top of the page as 70% of the readers will not read through the entire email. Lead your email marketing to a landing page, we do not want to stuff all content into the email, the email should be focus only on the main point and direct audience to a landing page for more information. Make sure you have Call-to-action button repeated at least 3 times throughout the email.

2. Offer free content on problem solving and knowledge sharing

Internet users spend 23% of their time on reading articles. Write about your company news and events, it will help to get found in various search engines like Google, Bing and more. In order to increase the rank in search engine, you must make sure that the content is educational and original.  Slot in some relevant graphics or videos to keep your audience reading, we do not want to drive our potential leads away with boring looking articles. Besides that, it is important to keep the reading level low to make your article is suitable for readers of different education levels. 

3. Make sure your website appear in first 3 pages in Google Search

This can be done by having good Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) on your website and landing pages. First of all, you must make sure that your website has fast loading speed, good user experiences and mobile friendly. Next, SEO is all about the content of your website, high quality content will often rank top in Google search. Having internal link without the relevant text can help to strengthen the ranking. Sample of internal link will be “We offer digital marketing services,” rather than Click here for our services”. Last but not least, make sure the content is easy to read by using bullet points and bold to highlight important pitons. 

4. Post more often on social media

Social media is one of the best lead generation channel as it can help us to target based on age groups, location, interest, recent search and more. Social media like Facebook could help you to target audience based on behaviour and shopping pattern; Twitter allow you to target people based on network; LinkedIn is good for B2B business as you target audience based on their work, position, place of work and more.    

5. Organising Webinars

Everyone loves webinar as they could enjoy learning new things at their preferred locations with no cost.  But no one will enjoy a boring lecture so do a boring webinar, make sure the webinar have interesting, attractive and innovative content to keep the audiences with you. Remember to have audience registered so that you could collect basic information for future marketing purposes.

6. Encourage audience to take action on your offer

Everything above will be useless if audience do not take action on your offer. You can encourage audience to take action on your offer by having Call-To-Action (CTA) buttons. Things to keep in mind to create an effective CTA:-

  • be crystal clear about what you're offering
  • use images rather than text to stand out
  • use colours that contrast with your website or landing page
  • appropriate to your purpose
